Mission and Partnering

makediscipleswp

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations..." (Matthew 28.19)

As followers of Jesus Christ we are called to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ within and beyond our own community.  We  seek to follow the example of the first disciples who obeyed the commission Jesus gave them in Acts 1:8, ...”you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth".  As a church family we also support missions because when we bless others we are blessed ourselves.  We receive great encouragement and inspiration when we share across cultural and geographical boundaries what God is doing in the world.

We partner with others practically, prayerfully and financially to see lives and communities impacted both locally and overseas.

Chaplaincy

At a local level we support chaplaincy in our local high school. We believe that our young people are an important part of our community.

On an overseas level we partner with or support in a number of ways a variety of people and projects which include:

Global Mission Partners

Global Mission Partners is part of Churches of Christ Australia, and is involved in cross cultural mission, connecting churches with each other and overseas partners mission. At present our church family is supporting the work of our sister Fiji Community Churches of Christ.

This Sunday 12th June we are delighted to be hosting Greg Illingsworth, Director of Ministry Care, and Judith Vusi, Principal of the Mobile Bible College in Vanuatu. Come along and hear how God is working through this exciting new ministry which allows local church leaders to be resourced where they are.

Acts 29ers International -  Sri Lanka Mission

Our church family is blessed to have our brother Pastor Barry Roland-Hornblow within our fellowship. Pastor Barry is involved through his independent ministry in the equipping of local Christian leaders in Sri Lanka to support their work in spreading the Gospel message and establishing strong and healthy assemblies.  A broader representation will also be sought through the areas of Burma and Mauritius in addition to Sri Lanka in the coming year.

Samaritan’s Purse – Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a unique project of Samaritan’s Purse that brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes. It provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple but hands-on project that has the power to transform children’s lives.” (Excerpt from www.operationchristmaschild.org.au)

Last year some 300,000 boxes from Australia and New Zealand were distributed throughout South East Asia and the South Pacific. On a global level Samaritans Purse distributed 7.6 million boxes across 105 countries.

Knit a Square Project

And He took the children into His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them (Mark 10:16)

Recently, we were introduced to the KasCare Inc knit a square project at one of our ladies’ evening get togethers.  Thanks to Kate Gason, this was then introduced to the church and the project was embraced with our usual enthusiasm and desire for service.  As a result we were able to share in a wonderful missional opportunity by knitting squares to make much needed blankets for orphans in South Africa.

Thank you to Kate for bringing this great project to our group and thank you to all of our knitters and crocheters, who have created a wonderful assortment of 216 knitted squares, which have been posted to Bryanston in South Africa, to KasCare Inc (Knit a Square), where they will be sewn together, to be made into blankets for orphans whose lives have been affected by the Aids Virus.
